The charming Englar Castle is probably the best-preserved Gothic castle in South Tyrol, and is a gem of the historic buildings in our region.
Built in 1450 on top of late-Romanesque walls, the castle was extended in around 1520 in early Renaissance style, and came into the ownership of our family in around 1620. The castle has lost none of its unique charm over the centuries, and is now managed as a small castle hotel with B&B, offering its guests a superb retreat in a unique setting.

Our hotel features 8 charming bedrooms on 3 floors, all individually designed by the castle owners. Each room has its own character, which blends together in timeless, spacious elegance with the historic decor of the castle itself.
Living in a castle
Some of the bedrooms feature Baroque stuccoed ceilings, while others are fitted with carved, wooden Renaissance ceilings. Every room is unique in decor and atmosphere, and combine old-world appeal with modern comfort.
All bedrooms and bathrooms have recently been fully renovated and modernised to contemporary standards.
Due to construction restrictions, we do not have a lift: We strongly recommend taking this into account when packing your suitcases.
Standard Double Room
These spacious bedrooms are decorated in period furnishings, 25 – 30 m2.
Junior Suites
Spacious bedrooms with historic furnishings, comfortable lounge corner with sofa, 35 – 40 m2.
Loft Suite
3rd floor suite with corridor to the lounge area, 52 m2, secluded south-facing terrace.
Holiday cottage Moosmühle Mill
Our old Moosmühle Mill sits in picturesque romance alongside a small brook, in an utterly secluded setting. The unique feature of the Mill is its splendid location in the heart of a rural landscape, yet just a 15-minute walk away.
The building can sleep up to 9 people.
In the garden, a sunny south-facing terrace boasts spellbinding views of the Dolomites.
A little brook provides a pleasant spot for a refreshing dip, while the outdoor fireplace welcomes you to enjoy a barbecue and the cosy warmth of a campfire in the evenings.
Rates
Rates are quoted per night’s stay in original, historic rooms and include a lavish breakfast buffet.
Rates per person, based on 2-person occupancy for a stay of two nights:
Rates are quoted per person, inclusive of breakfast and 10% VAT.
A local tax surcharge of € 3,00 per person per night (age 14 upwards) is payable on site.
SHORT STAYS
One stays of 1 night, a surcharge of €10 per person is applied.
SINGLE ROOMS
Single person occupancy of double rooms is subject to a surcharge of €50.
CHILDREN’S RATES
Children are very welcome here. With its wide array of animals and rustic surroundings, Englar Castle is an absolute paradise for all children.
When sleeping in their parents’ room, children up to 3 years old stay free of charge.
ADDITIONAL BEDS
Are only available in the Junior suites:
